Today, we're taking aim at inferior L.E.D. Light bars.
Here are our Top 4 Grudges!
1) Water Ingress
One of the most common issues we've experienced with sub-standard L.E.D. Light bars over the years is water ingress. What often starts as a small amount of fog on the inside of the lens, slowly progresses to deteriorated light output and eventually failure of the internal hardware due to corrosion.
2) Finish
Next on our hit list is poor quality mounting hardware that often starts to corrode after a few months. It's not only the mounting hardware, but the paint or poor quality powder coating on the body of the light bar that often fades or flakes off after a couple of washes or an encounter with salt water. What we’re left with is a flaky light bar with rusted brackets, not exactly an attractive look on the front of a nice four wheel drive.
3) Connectors
Last but not least, poor quality connectors. Many sub-standard light bars either come with no connector or an inferior Deutsch® imitation connector where the pins either back out of the receptacle or suffer water intrusion. This often leads to intermittent or complete loss of light operation resulting in comebacks (often at no fault of the installer).
4) Warranty
So, once the light bar is full of moisture and some, if not all of the L.E.D’s have failed, it’s time to make a warranty claim. At best this will result in a replacement inferior light bar but in most instances a disgruntled, out of pocket customer who is left high and dry with no warranty.
As the old saying goes: “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten”
What is Advanced Optic Drive Technology?
Advanced Optic Drive Technology uses a special reflector profile that more efficiently captures the light from L.E.D’s in Narva’s range of L.E.D. light bars.
It concentrates the focus to achieve a penetrating light output further down the road. This technology minimises wasted light, instead focusing the light where it’s most needed by the driver.
The result is a 30% brighter light output than a conventional L.E.D. light bar*, as demonstrated by Narva’s new Explora light bar (shown below), utilising 12 x 3W high-powered L.E.Ds (producing 6000°K) and producing an impressive 2400 Lumens and 1 Lux of light at 269 metres.
