We've all heard about the Takata Air-bag Recall and the myriad of a vehicles that it affects, but what is the actual issue?
A faulty inflator, compared with a serviceable/undetonated unit, sent in by a mechanic.com.au member.
As you can see on the left, instead of discharging through the holes in the side of the unit, the top casing is blowing apart causing metal fragments to be released and potentially causing injury to vehicle occupants.
