A machining error during the manufacturing process of the engine may cause premature wear of the bearings within the engine.
A worn connecting rod bearing will produce a cyclic knocking noise from the engine and may also result in the illumination of the vehicle’s engine warning lamp and/or oil pressure warning lamp in the instrument panel. If the warnings are ignored and the vehicle continues to be driven, the bearing may fail and the vehicle could stall while in motion, posing an accident hazard.
Consumers who own a vehicle that falls within the relevant date range should check the Vehicle Identification Number list linked above. Kia Motors will endeavour to contact all customers by direct mail to alert them of the issue.
Kia Motors will inspect and repair the issue free of charge.
