Gates has identified and created solutions for a number of prevalent issues with popular heavy-duty engines. Gates FleetRunner™ belts and heavy-duty DriveAlign™ tensioners are the smart solution so engines run more efficiently for longer periods of time, reducing downtime and saving money on maintenance.
Gates has created solutions for the following heavy-duty engine models:
Problem: Volvo’s initial designs were not robust enough for the application; as a result, there were multiple tensioner failures.
Solution: Gates offers tensioner 38671, with all the enhancements, as a replacement for the upgraded OE tensioner. By using a 38671 tensioner and K080630HD FleetRunner™ belt, you can significantly increase the life of the alternator and A.C. drive. Durability tests have shown that this tensioner performs significantly longer than OE standards.
Problem: Due to OE confusion during part number supersessions and design changes, customers were applying the incorrect tensioner to the applications, resulting in the tensioner arm breaking.
Solution: Gates 38726 tensioner has a reinforced arm. The 38726 fits 2014 and newer Mack MP7 engines while the 38607 fits 2014 and older models. By replacing the tensioner with the correct parts and using a FleetRunner belt, you can guarantee long-lasting and worry-free performance.
Problem: The OE tensioner uses smaller pivot bushing creating alignment issues. The hydraulic strut makes it slower to react to sudden changes in the drive from accessories and also requires a core charge when purchasing.
Solution: Gates engineering developed the 38667 to exceed OE performance. This Gates tensioner is easy to install and lasts under severe conditions. Replace the tensioner on your Detroit Diesel application with the 38667 and use Gates heavy-duty FleetRunner™ belts to guarantee long-lasting worry-free performance.
Replacing a belt? Don’t forget about the tensioner & pulleys! All parts in a system are engineered to work in-sync and wear at about the same rate. Be system smart and complete a full repair by inspecting and replacing all components at the same time to ensure proper system function.
