The fitment of fuel water separator and crankcase filters to diesel powered passenger vehicles has become a popular way to add extra engine protection from contaminants like water in fuel and chemical build up from crankcase gases.  However, the installation of these filters has been problematic due to the use of universal type mounting brackets and limited engine bay space.

Thanks to Ryco, this has now been rectified with the release of Ryco Vehicle Specific fitment Kits (RVSK) for a range of popular diesel vehicles that, as the name suggested, are individually developed for specific vehicles with purpose designed brackets and hoses for an exact and far less complicated fit.

Designed in Australia for Australian conditions, the RVSK’s can mount either or both fuel water separator and crankcase filters and have been rigorously tested under high temperature, towing and off-road conditions.  A range of on-road field testing and datalogging has been undertaken to measure a vehicle’s internal and external engine bay temperatures, fuel line temperatures as well as fuel water separator and crankcase temperatures.  Each of the mounting brackets also endures computer simulation and vibration testing to ensure that stiffness and load levels are within the design targets.

Simply these RVSK’s are built tough with brackets made from 3mm laser-cut steel that’s also powder coated for added toughness.  Additionally, added abrasion resistant insulation has been used on all of the PCV and fuel hoses, to ensure that they are protected from the elements and piercing.

To develop this new range of kits, the Engineering Team at Ryco have used 3D engine bay scanning on a number of the popular diesel powered 4WD’s and SUV’s to ensure the best location was chosen to fit the mounting bracket.  The location was chosen for not only ease of fitment but to create easy access to the filters for replacement or inspection. Vehicles that regularly install a second battery were also taken into consideration with all kits compatible with dual battery setup.

The result is a twin filter mounting kit that requires no drilling as each bracket has been designed for exact fitment into the pre-existing points in each specific vehicle’s engine bay.  Plus, the included PCV hose is purpose-moulded for a precise fit for the engine bay.  To further simplify each installation, Ryco have included quick connectors for fuel hoses and illustrated fitting instructions that clearly show each step.

RSVK are currently available for 2011-2018 Ford Ranger PX, Everest, Mazda BT 50 fitted with 2.2L & 3.2L diesel engines, Toyota Hilux 2005-2015 KUN 16 & 26 (1KD) and 2007-2018 Toyota Landcruiser VDJ70 Series, (1VD-FTV).  Kits for Mitsubishi 2015-2018 Pajero Sport & Triton and 2015-2018 Toyota Hilux & Fortuner GUN (1GD) are coming towards the end of the year. The kits are available from all good Ryco stockists nationally.
