When Toby Dymond, General Manager Sales and Marketing, was visiting workshops and saw dumpsters overflowing with empty 20L drums, he knew something needed to be done to help preserve the environment for future generations to come.
That solution is Enviro Box™, the ‘bag-in-a-box’ concept launched by Penrite in April 2017. It is a revolutionary concept in which a robust plastic bladder is encased in a sturdy, non-waxed cardboard box. The product is dispensed via a tap, like a wine cask. Lubricant can be extracted by running through the tap into a jug and then dispensed into the vehicle, or hand-pumped directly into the vehicle.
Enviro Box™ packages are stored on an Enviro Box™ dispensing trolley or stand, depending on your needs. There are two versions of the stand available:
Pour & Store stand:
Which has 1 shelf at the top to dispense lubricant from 3 boxes, and space at the bottom to store a further 6 boxes, meaning 180-litres of lubricant can be stored at once.
Pour stand:
Which has 2 shelves to dispense lubricant from 6 boxes at once, meaning 120-litres of lubricant can be stored at once.
Penrite was the first Australian lubricant manufacturer to introduce this dispensing system to the Australian market, where on release won Gold in the Most Innovative Packaging Category of the Australian Auto Aftermarket Awards.
Enviro Box™ can lead to 85% reduction in landfill waste. The cardboard carton is 100% recyclable and workshop customers can have their empty bladders collected by Cleanaway to be disposed of responsibly. Another major benefit for workshop customers using the Enviro Box™ are financial, with potential savings of $2600 per year on disposal costs of bulky 20L plastic drums.
Tony from Indy Automotive Repairs in Moorabbin, VIC, says he is delighted with Enviro Box.
“This product is fantastic! We had to empty our general waste bin every week or so due to the amount of empty 20L plastic containers we were throwing out,” Tony said.
“Emptying that bin costs me $75. Now with Enviro Box™, the box is crushed and put into the recycle bin. It takes me about six-eight weeks to fill that one and costs me $6 to empty!”
To further reduce cost and clutter in your workshop, the contents of an Enviro Box™ can be decantated into an empty 60 litre drum, thereby eliminating the need to order another 60 litre drum. This benefits workshops by eliminating the expensive cost of disposing of a 60 litre drum by making it reusable and reduce inventory holdings by ordering an Enviro Box™ to top up, rather than replacing a whole 60 litre drum. To achieve this Penrite have made available an Enviro Box™ nozzle, which screws onto the Enviro Box™ bladder and decants in just 45 seconds. This helps avoid having to move a pump from one 60 litre to another mid service by simply re-filling the existing drum.
