Did you guess our Secret Automotive Sounds and complete the entry steps for your chance to Win the Ultimate Bathurst 1000 Experience for you and a mate?

If you did, we'd like to thank you for taking the time to submit your entry in the Mechanic.com.au Secret Sounds Competition. We have had over 500 mechanics put themselves to the test but only 1 could be crowned the winner!

We'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the Mechanic.com.au Team for administering this competition as well as our Premier Community Partners Bendix, DBA, Exedy, Gates, Monroe, Narva, NGK, Penrite, Ryco and Trico because without their support, we simply wouldn't be able to run these awesome competitions and promotions for our members.

So without further adeui, here are the competitions stats as well as our lucky winner:

Total Entries: 518

Entrants who guessed all secret sounds correctly: 6.17%

What we learned:

The easiest secret sound to guess was #4 with 97.9% of entrants getting this sound correct.
The hardest secret sound to guess was #3 with 81.9% of entrants getting this sound incorrect.
Mechanics favourite engine sounds seems to be an old-school V8, followed closely by a rotary engine.
The most popular workshop sounds seem to be the smoko truck horn, the eftpos machine printing, starting an engine after you have rebuilt it, tools hitting the ground when we drop them instead of getting stuck somewhere in the engine bay and the sound of cracking a beer at the end of the day.
Mechanics favourite beer seems to be Victoria Bitter
A surprisingly large amount of us seem to spend a lot of time making racecar noises with pneumatic rattle guns.
